MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT
- To ensure a positive experience, Members will adhere to all rules and understand that breaking rules can result in having their memberships suspended or revoked.
- Members will treat Guards with respect at all times. Any issues that a Member has regarding rules or direction from a Guard enforcing club rules or making requests for the safety of our Members should be addressed with our Club Manager or a Board Member. You can writeto membership@pmbcsleepyhollow.org with any issues, questions or complaints.
- Members will treat fellow Members with consideration and respect or risk having their memberships suspended or revoked. Be considerate to other Members and their Guests when playing music or games or using the fire pit. All annoyances will be reported to management for immediate action.
- Complaints regarding Member or Guest conduct or any of the below rules should be directed to the Board at membership@pmbcsleepyhollow.org.
CHECKING IN
- Members must check in with the Guard desk every visit. Members may be asked to show ID and confirm membership.
ENTRY WHEN GATE IS LOCKED
- Each Member Household is provided 1-2 entry fobs, depending on the household size. Each fob is coded to one specific Membership Household. The fob can be used to enter the Club during off hours (effective Spring 2026). If you need a replacement fob, please email membership@pmbcsleepyhollow.org to order one.
- Never give your fob to someone else or any children under the age of 21.
PARKING
- All Members must have the proper Membership stickers to park at the Club.
- Members who are residents of Philipse Manor or Sleepy Hollow Manor receive membership stickers from PMIA or SHMA (not PMBC). If you live in Philipse Manor and want a sticker for parking, you must join PMIA here.
- If you live in Sleepy Hollow Manor and want a sticker for parking, you must join SHMA here.
- Members who do not reside in Philipse Manor or Sleepy Hollow Manor receive their Membership sticker through their PMBC membership.
- Walk or bike to the Club whenever possible to avoid congestion and over-crowding in the parking lot, especially during special event and parties.
GUESTS
- Guests must be accompanied by their Member host at all times. All Guests must be signed by the Member in before entering the Club. If the Member is not at the beach club, the Guest(s) will be turned away.
- Limit of 6 Guests per visit (no guests allowed on the 4th of July).
- Children and young adults living in the same household as their parents may be on their parents’ Membership until the age of 26. If they are older than 26 and live outside your household the Member will be required at the beach club and can pay guest fees
- Members are invoiced at season’s end for Guest fees based on based on the following fee schedule:
o $10/guest Monday-Thursday, excluding Holidays
o $15/guest Friday-Sunday and Holidays
o No Guests on the 4th of July
- There are no Guest fees for Boaters to bring Guests out on their boat.
- Philipse Manor residents may not be Guests at the Club more than 3x per season. Philipse Manor residents have special privileges (no lottery for entry!), so please do not take advantage of Guest passes. If you intend to use the Club, please join.
GARBAGE
- We follow a "Carry in/Carry out" policy. We expect Members to take any trash (including recyclables) home to dispose of. Do not use Metro-North cans for your Beach Club trash disposal, or the guard bins.
- Smoking is not allowed at the club.
SAFETY, SWIMMING, PLAYING AND LIFEGUARDS
- On all safety-related matters, the on-duty Manager and Guards have the final say and must be obeyed without question.
- The Guards are not babysitters and will not act as such for your children.
- Swimming beyond the roped area is not permitted.
- Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult on the beach or in the water.
- Anyone creating a false alarm, for whatever reason, is subject to summary suspension and revocation of their household Membership.
- Only authorized Boaters are allowed on the docks and past the fence at the end of the point.
- Children are prohibited from playing on the boat beach/kayak beach (south side) or on the boat docks. It is the responsibility of the parent or babysitter to keep children off rocky areas. No one is permitted on the barge or the rock pile.
- -Throwing of rocks, sand or similar projectiles is not permitted.
- Swimmers may not swim behind or under the rafts where the Guards cannot see them.
- Swimmers under the age of 12 must pass a deep-water swim test to swim out to the rafts. Please see the Head Guard to arrange a deep water test.
- Diving off the rafts is not permitted.
- While inflatable toys, rafts, floaties, tubes and boogie boards are permitted, the Guards have the authority to prohibit the use of such devices at any time.
- Children who do not know how to swim must have an adult with them when using
- such devices.
- Keep off the Guards’ chair and bench.
FIRE PIT SAFETY
- We encourage Members to make use of the firepit. Members must supply their own wood.
- Do not leave the fire pit unattended.
- Please supervise your children around the fire pit at all times.
CHILDCARE PROVIDERS
- Members must register their childcare provider by providing his/her name on the application form.
- Their name will be listed on the sign-in form along with the family. Like all Members, they must sign in at the gate when entering the Club and are expected to comply with all the rules of the beach Club.
- Caregivers may only bring the child/children they are responsible for to the beach.
KAYAK & SUP SLIPS
- Only renewing kayak Members will be guaranteed a slip. Those interested in acquiring a slip must contact kayaks@pmbcsleepyhollow.org.
- A list of assigned slots will be posted adjacent to the kayak rack at the start of the season. Those with slips must use the slip that is assigned to them. Failure to do so can result in loss of your slip rental.
- Kayaks must be removed for the season by November 1st. Unidentified kayaks will be removed from the rack and then discarded if not claimed by the start of the season.
- Kayak owners must store their kayaks upside down at all times to prevent rain from collecting in the kayaks and weighing down the storage area.
- The club is not liable for stolen, lost or damaged property.
- Lifejackets must be worn while kayaking and using SUPs for children 12 and under.
WATER QUALITY
- The Westchester County Health authorities perform regular checks on water quality and the standard of facilities provided. The water is typical tidal river water, which cleans itself twice a day with the tides and force of the river currents. However, under certain circumstances, such as heavy rains, the beach may be closed until the water quality is restored to acceptable conditions.
MARINA
- Only authorized Boaters and their Guests are allowed on the docks and past the fence at the end of the point.
- Boats may not be brought into the marina until the Commodore has approved the application (the type, length and beam identified), and dues are paid in full.
- No one under the age of 18 will be allowed in the marina unaccompanied by an adult.
- Jet skis or personal water craft and visiting PWCs /Jet skis are not permitted.
- The Commodore may fine Boaters up to $500 for failure to follow the above rules including removal of boats in the Fall.
MISCELLANEOUS POLICIES (SMOKING, DOGS, FIREWORKS)
- Dogs are not allowed on Club property from May 1st-October 31st.
- Fireworks are prohibited on PMBC property at all times.
- No smoking or vaping on club property.
FOOD AND ALCOHOL
- Food and beverages are not allowed on the beach area or in the water.
- New York State law requires that you must be 21 years of age or older to consume or handle alcoholic beverages of any kind.
- The PMBC Board has adopted a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY to underage alcohol consumption and to public drunkenness.
- Consumption of alcohol by persons under 21 years of age and/or public intoxication of anyone will result in the immediate removal from the Beach Club grounds, and the suspension of, or loss of, membership privileges for the season. This includes the underage consumer, their parents, guardians or anyone giving alcohol to persons under 21 years of age.
AGE RESTRICTIONS AT THE CLUB
- Children under the age of 12 must be with a responsible adult.
- No person under the age of 21 is allowed at the Beach Club after 8pm unless accompanied by an adult Member.
FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND
- While the Club is a wonderful place to enjoy the 4th of July, it has become increasingly crowded. It is one of the most popular weekends at the Club. For the safety and enjoyment of all, please comply with the following rules:
- The Beach Club must be cleared out by 10pm
- Absolutely no fireworks or sparklers
- No swimming after 8pm
- No guests allowed
PRIVATE PARTIES AND SPECIAL EVENTS
- To inquire about booking a private party, please contact events@pmbcsleepyhollow.org. There is an event fee and guest charges apply.
- Parties are limited to no more than 50 guests in total and are only allowed Monday-Thursdays in season. You will need to complete an event application and submit a deposit.
