MEMBERSHIP RULES FOR PMBC

Every member must check in with the staff at the front desk every time you visit. You may be asked to show ID and confirm membership.

Walk or bike to the Club whenever possible to avoid congestion and over-crowding in the parking lot, especially during special event and parties.

KEYS

Replacement keys are $5. Please email membership@pmbcsleepyhollow.org to order one. When it is ready, you will be able to pick it up at the Guard desk.

Keys must be used to enter and exit the Club during off hours (before 11am and after 8pm). If exiting the Club after 8pm, please make sure you lock the door when you leave even if there are still people occupying the Club. To avoid being locked in the Club, make sure you have your key with you at all times.

Never give your key to a non-member or any children under the age of 21.

GUESTS

Guests must be accompanied by their member host. You must confirm your membership(Government ID) to the gate guard upon entering the gate. All guests must be signed in before entering the Club.  Children and young adults living in the same household as their parents may be on their parents membership until the age of 26. If they are older than 26 and live outside your household the member will be required at the beach club and can pay guest fees.  If the member is not at the beach club, the family will be turned away. Limit of 4 guests per HH per visit.

Members will be invoiced for guests that are signed in with you according to our gate log book (except for boaters bringing guests on their boat) based on the following fee schedule:

  • $10/guest Monday-Thursday, exclusive of holiday weekends
  • $15/guest Friday-Sunday, exclusive of holiday weekends
  • No guests during July 4th day.

Philipse Manor residents may not be guests at the Club more than three times per season (except to attend a scheduled party). We request that residents who wish to use the Club become members, in order that we may remain financially solvent. Philipse Manor residents have special privileges (no waiting list for entry!), so please do not take advantage of guest passes. If you intend to use the Club, please join. Our lifeguard payroll and associated costs are the largest part of the Club’s budget, and we incur these costs for guests as well as members.

PARKING

As of 2017, if you are not a member of PMIA or SHMA, you will need to pay $100 for a parking sticker. It will be added to your membership renewal.

FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND

While the Beach Club is a wonderful place to enjoy the 4th of July, it has become increasingly crowded. It is one of the most popular weekends at the Club. For the safety and enjoyment of all, please comply with the following rules:

Please walk to the beach if possible to avoid congestion in the parking lot.  When Lot is full, cars will be turned away.

No guests allowed on July 4th

· The Beach Club must be cleared out by 10pm.

· Absolutely no fireworks including sparklers

· The beach will be closed to swimming at 8pm on the 4th of July

PRIVATE PARTIES

Private Parties must be approved in advance by the Board and require additional fees. To apply to host a party, please complete the Party Application on this site.

SAFETY AND LIFEGUARDS

In all matters concerning safety, the on-duty Manager and lifeguards have the final say and must be obeyed without question.

Lifeguards are not babysitters and will not act as such for your children. This is for everyone’s safety.

Swimming beyond the roped area is not permitted.

Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult on the beach or in the water.

Anyone creating a false alarm, for whatever reason, is subject to summary suspension and revocation of their membership.

Only authorized boaters are allowed on the docks and past the fence at the end of the point.

Children are prohibited from playing on the boat beach/kayak beach (south side) or on the boat docks. It is the responsibility of the parent or babysitter to keep children off rocky areas. No one is permitted on the barge or the rock pile.

Throwing of rocks or similar projectiles is not permitted.

Swimmers may not swim behind the rafts where the lifeguards cannot see them.

Swimmers under the age of 12 must pass a deep-water swim test to swim out to the rafts. Please see the head lifeguard to arrange a deep water test.

Diving off the rafts is not permitted.

While inflatable toys, rafts, floaties, tubes and boogie boards are permitted, the lifeguards have the authority to prohibit the use of such devices at any time. (For example, such devices will not be allowed if the winds and/or currents are strong.) Children who do not know how to swim must have an adult with them when using such devices.

Please keep off the lifeguards’ chair and bench.

FIRE PIT SAFETY

Please supervise your children around the fire pit at all times. Do not leave fire pit unattended.

CHILDCARE PROVIDERS

Members must register their childcare provider by providing his/her name on the application form.

Their name will be listed on the sign-in form along with the family. Like all members, they must sign in at the gate when entering the Club and are expected to comply with all the rules of the beach Club.

Caregivers may only bring the child/children they are responsible for to the beach.

KAYAK SLIPS

Only renewing kayak members will be guaranteed a slip. Those interested in acquiring a slip must contact kayaks@pmbcsleepyhollow.org. A list of assigned slots will be posted adjacent to the kayak rack at the start of the season.

Unidentified kayaks will be removed from the rack and then discarded if not claimed within 30 days of the start of the season.

Kayak owners must store their kayaks upside down at all times to prevent rain from collecting in the kayaks and weighing down the storage area.

The club is not liable for stolen, lost or damaged property.

GARBAGE

We follow a "Carry in/Carry out" policy, so please take your trash home with you. Please do not use Metro-North cans for your Beach Club trash disposal, or the guard bins.  We expect Members to take any trash (including recyclables) home to dispose of. This will enable us to keep the beach clean for our entire membership.

Please do not litter the beach with cigarette butts; members are responsible for collecting their butts and disposing of them in the trash.

WATER QUALITY

The Westchester County Health authorities perform regular checks on water quality and the standard of facilities provided. We have always received a clean bill of health. The water is typical tidal river water, which cleans itself twice a day with the tides and force of the river currents. However, under certain circumstances, such as heavy rains, the beach may be closed until the water quality is restored to acceptable conditions.

MARINA

Only authorized boaters are allowed on the docks and past the fence at the end of the point.

Boats may not be brought into the marina until the Commodore has approved the application (the type, length and beam identified), and dues are paid in full.

No one under the age of 18 will be allowed in the marina unaccompanied by an adult.

Jet Skis or Personal Water Craft and visiting PWCs /Jet Skis are not permitted.

The Commodore may fine members up to $500 for failure to follow the above rules including removal of boats in the Fall by the first work day

MISCELLANEOUS

Dogs are not allowed on beach club property from May 1st-October 31st.

Be considerate to other members and their guests when playing music or games or using the fire pit. All annoyances will be reported to management for immediate action.

Fireworks are prohibited on PMBC property at all times.

No Smoking on club property.

FOOD AND ALCOHOL

Food and beverages are not allowed on the beach area or in the water.

New York State law requires that you must be 21 years of age or older to consume or handle alcoholic beverages of any kind.

The PMBC Board has adopted a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY to underage alcohol consumption and to public drunkenness. Consumption of alcohol by persons under 21 years of age and/or public intoxication of anyone will result in the immediate removal from the Beach Club grounds, and the suspension of, or loss of, membership privileges for the season. This includes the underage consumer, their parents, guardians or anyone giving alcohol to persons under 21 years of age.

AGE LIMIT

Children under the age of 12 must be with a responsible adult.

No person under the age of 21 is allowed at the Beach Club after 6pm unless accompanied by an adult member.

PETS

Due to stringent sanitation laws and Board of Health guidelines, pets are not allowed on the grounds during the PMBC season (May-Sept).

PRIVATE PARTIES AND SPECIAL EVENTS

To book a private party, please contact events@pmbcsleepyhollow.org.  There is an event fee and guest charges. Parties are limited to no more than 50 guests in total. You will need to complete an event application and submit a deposit.
